Fenland Glasshouse

One of the UK’s largest water source heat pump projects.

Harnessing the naturally available energy in open water reservoirs, 33MW of heat pumps are generating low carbon heat as part of a wider energy plan to produce fruit and vegetables here in the UK.

Utilising ammonia as a refrigerant means a very high level of efficiency can be achieved – in excess of 500%. The control system constantly evaluates performance targets and thermal storage capacity against system demand to provide a truly turnkey energy solution.

This 32.9MW combined heat pump is currently the largest in the UK and supplies all the energy needed to heat a 217,000m² glass house.
