Project Overview
London Borough and Hillingdon Council embarked on a project to decarbonise council owned buildings, including the removal of existing gas boilers. Pure Renewables were contracted to design and install a renewable energy solution that was specific to their needs, overcoming the limited space available on site and the restrictions imposed due to part of the building being grade 1 listed.
The Solution
After working closely with the customer and completing multiple site visits, the Pure Renewables team designed a solution to install 9 Thermonova heat pumps. The equipment specification included 4 Nova 440 units, 2 Nova 330 units and 3 Nova 220 units. Each unit would be crane lifted and positioned onto the roof and fitted with control systems for remote monitoring.

Key Installation Details
- Full RIBA Stage 3 & 4 for all M&E plus civils design.
- Installation of new pipework systems throughout existing building.
- New electrical systems, including riser cabling in confined space.
- Expansion, pressurisation, and water treatment systems.
- Cold plumage mitigation equipment (structural steel frames, with attenuation).
- Electrical system integrating and upgrading site wide infrastructure – working with DNO.
- Installation of bespoke buffer vessels.
- 24/7 metering and verification system.
