Hull Renewable Energy Superhome

This property has been transformed into the region’s first official ‘superhome’, reducing his carbon emissions by over 60%.

Richard Howarth has transformed his draughty terrace into the region’s first official ‘superhome’. To qualify as a superhome, the homeowner must reduce their carbon emissions by at least 60 per cent. With our renewable energy solutions we helped Richard achieve his goals.

Why did you decide to invest in renewable energy?

We are all facing a severe climate crisis and we are trying to do all we can to reduce our personal emissions.

We have taken a typically inefficient 1930s terraced house and transformed it into a low energy superhome that is cosy and warm and costs very little to run.

Why did you choose Pure Renewables?

Pure Renewables had the best understanding of our overall needs in the context of the whole house conversion. Having looked at many suppliers, they did the most detailed analysis and produced the most appropriate technology for our needs.

What did you think of the service you received from Pure Renewables?

The attention to detail and the workmanship was of high quality and I would recommend them to others.

Has the investment matched your expectations?

It is too soon to tell but certainly throughout the summer months, we are saving more carbon than we are emitting, which is amazing. We won’t be able to sustain that through the winter but I would expect that after a year we will be pretty close to being carbon neutral, which would be my personal goal.
