Nic and Jennifer Marsay of Beverley have invested in residential solar PV, an air-source heat pump and underfloor heating at their home in Beverley. The couple spent more than a year transforming the grade 2 listed building from an office into a home.
Why did you decide to invest in renewable energy?
We felt it was time to give renewable technology a whirl. Solar panels and air source heat pumps lent themselves quite well to our project.

During the project, a new air-source heat pump model came out. Chris took us to have a look at it so we changed it to that one in the end. He was proactive and made sure we had up to date technology. When there was the scare about the Government changing the Feed-in Tariff, he made sure the panels were installed and commissioned before the deadline.
Has the investment matched your expectations?
You have to stomach the initial outlay but once it’s done, it will be quite a cheap house to run. When the money starts trickling in, it will feel like a bonus.
