Your eco-friendly heating system options

At Pure Renewables, we offer the following eco-friendly heating systems, which can be installed as part of a wider renewable energy solutions package or as a standalone installation.

Ground Source Heat Pumps

How a Ground Source Heat Pump Works

The most eco-friendly heating system available at the moment would be a ground source heat pump system paired with underfloor heating. Ground source heat pumps collect heat from a network of pipe systems laid underground on your property (garden, driveway or farmland) and convert it into usable heat to power your home heating system and hot water. They are extremely efficient and work perfectly in parallel with an underfloor heating system to provide the most efficient, cost-effective and eco-friendly heating system.

Water Source Heat Pumps

How a Water Source Heat Pump Works

Another suitable eco-friendly heating system would be a water source heat pump paired with underfloor heating. Water source heat pumps work in a similar way to ground source heat pumps, but are installed into bodies of water such as lakes or streams. In terms of efficiency, water source heat pumps achieve a higher heat transfer rate than ground source heat pumps and the return temperature in generally 5-6°C higher.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Of the heat pumps available on the market today, air source heat pumps are the most popular and the cheapest to install, so a great option if your looking for a suitable eco-friendly heating system on a budget. As with both ground source and water source options, air source heat pumps also work really well with underfloor heating. They cost slightly more to run than the other options (still much less than a gas boiler) but offer a great eco-friendly heating option for homeowners who don’t have the space for ground or water source systems, and don’t want the initial financial outlay of the installation. Through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, you could also be entitled to a grant of up to £7,500 to help replace your existing fossil fuel boiler.
