The Ten Point Plan has received a lot of media attention recently, here Chris Whitelock, MD of Pure Renewables, shares his thoughts on the recent announcement…
“The 10 Point Plan, and especially Point 7 on Greener Buildings, clearly lays down an ambitious route towards a zero-carbon future with the ambitious target of 600,000 heat pump installations per year, by 2028.
To put this ambition into context, currently around 25,000 heat pumps are installed each year so to achieve 600,000 will require a 24-fold increase in the number of heat pumps installed.
This, of course, will require a huge step-change in upskilling and supply chains.

Why focus on heat pumps for homes?
Right now in the UK over 30% of CO2 emissions come from household fossil-fuelled heating.
Heat pumps however, offer a zero-emission heating system for the end user and, if fuelled by renewably-generated electricity, a homeowner can truly claim to be zero-carbon!
Pure Renewables has long-believed in the efficacy of heat pumps in delivering clean and efficient heating and as such heat pumps have been our core renewable offering since the inception of the company in 2007, long before heat pumps gained a deserved profile in the wider marketplace.

Over the years we have built a strong portfolio of work and a truly excellent & highly skilled workforce meaning we are therefore well placed to respond to this ambitious target set out in the Ten Point Plan by the Government.
Over the next decade we can expect to see a significant reduction in the use of fossil fuelled appliances and vehicles plus a huge increase in electrically driven systems.
The ‘Green Revolution’ hasn’t just begun – it’s in full flow!”
